The nation-wide Danish Psychiatric Central Research Register was computerized in 1969 and contains data on all psychiatric admissions during the period 1969-1994 (incl.). As of 1 January 1995 data on outpatient treatment were also included.

The content of the Register has been changed several times since the establishment. Generally, changes have been small and mostly irrelevant to researchers. Combined these changes may, however, have impact on the projects using data from the register. Consequently, we have translated the Danish description of variables in order to provide current and future researchers from abroad with as complete a documentation as possible. A copy of the description will be forwarded on application to the Centre.
